Cyber Risk in the Property Industry.
Since April 2021, cyber security training has been mandatory for all users and administrators of an electronic lodgement network. This PEXA-endorsed course meets that requirement — and gives everyone in your property business the practical knowledge to protect their clients and themselves.
THE PROBLEM
Property transactions are among the highest-value targets for cybercriminals in Australia.
Payment redirection fraud – where criminals intercept email communications and redirect settlement funds – is a persistent and costly threat to lawyers, conveyancers and real estate agents handling property transactions. The consequences of a successful attack can be devastating: hundreds of thousands of dollars in client funds lost, significant professional liability exposure and damage to client relationships that can end a practice.
Cyber security training is also now a legal obligation for this sector. Since 12 April 2021, all users and administrators of an electronic lodgement network have been required to complete cyber security awareness training under ARNECC's Model Participation Rules Guidance Note 8 — System Security & Integrity.
Subscribers must also ensure that principals, officers, employees, agents and contractors who access their systems receive the same training. This PEXA-endorsed course is designed to meet that requirement.
